Coaching
sessions are scheduled on a regular basis (such as weekly
or biweekly, depending on the package you choose) over a period
of months. The agenda for each session is customized around
your needs. The goal is to help you make the progress you
want in the shortest period of time.
To
make the best use of my clients' time, I meet with most clients
by phone. This eliminates travel time and expense. It also
means that your location is no barrier to coaching; we can
conduct our sessions from anywhere in the world, as long as
you have a phone available. I pay for coaching calls in the
domestic United States, so unless you prefer to call me, you
incur no phone charges.
Some
clients wonder if they'll be comfortable connecting with a
voice, but in my experience people adapt to phone meetings
quite readily. If it's a concern for you, remember the initial
complimentary session: you can try before you buy. I have
met face-to-face with a few clients who live in my geographic
area (Boston, Massachusetts) and I'm happy to meet in person
if you live nearby.
I
meet with some clients on the same day and time each week;
with others, due to their ever changing schedules, the day
and time of our call might vary from week to week.
Most
clients work with a coach for a minimum of three months, with
the average time span of the partnership being six months
to a year and beyond. A client can discontinue the coaching
work at any time and will always be refunded in full for any
unused sessions.
Coaching
is not the same as therapy. While therapy is concerned primarily
with mental health issues and a person's emotional past, coaching
is very practical and focuses on your present life and future
actions. The two can overlap, so it is possible for a client
to work with a therapist and a coach at the same time.
